When we build custom frame bags, it’s usually one at a time. We don’t often get to see a whole stack of them at once! But we just shipped a large batch of custom bags to an OEM client who makes police bikes, and couldn’t resist making a pile for a couple photos.
For this particular mission - life on a police bike - these frame bags have some unique features. The bags have a single zipper, but it’s on the opposite side of our normal single-zipper bags. Normal bikes are laid down on the ground or leaned against a wall often, usually with the drivetrain facing up or out - so our normal single-pocket bags have zippers that accommodate that use. Police bikes are almost always on the move, and when stopped, are usually under the officer. Keeping the right hand free for sidearm control is important, so the pocket is on the left side. These bags are only labeled on the inside, keeping the exterior clean. And the velcro strips you see on the sides are for agency badges - each police force can personalize their bags as needed.
These bags will end up on bikes at police departments all over the country, with first responders pedaling down a street near you. I always figure those officers are feeling pretty heavy, with all the gear they have to carry. Hopefully these bags will lighten the load they’re wearing while riding!
