We’re a small business that designs and builds outdoor gear in Madison, Indiana, USA, after a long history of building gear in rural Colorado. Our main focus is bicycle gear for bikepacking, touring, and commuting - we’ve been building this sort of thing since 2010 - but we also are known for our van window shades and vehicle products.

In 2025, longtime co-owner Joey Ernst (that’s me) became sole owner of Bedrock Bags and Nightfall Overland rather than let the business go under. Freewheel Mission Gear is carrying on the legacy of both respected brands while bringing fresh energy to the products and the business.

As part of the 2025 transition to sole ownership, we moved the business from crowded, expensive Colorado to the hills of Kentuckiana. Our small town of Madison, Indiana, sits right on the border with Kentucky (the Ohio River) and is a beautiful place to ride, visit, and live.
