Although modern trail bikes are more fun to ride than ever, mounting bikepacking gear to them has become more challenging. We’ve accepted this challenge with our creative handlebar and dropper post bag designs over the years, including the Delta. Named for its unique shape, the Delta Handlebar Bag is stable on the roughest trails, maintains your bike's handling, and fits most modern trail bikes with a minimum of fuss. If your mountain bike’s handlebar stem is 70mm or shorter, the Delta is made for you!
Traditional cylindrical handlebar bags ideally sit in a 'channel' underneath the handlebar, against the bike's head tube, behind the brake levers. As handlebar stems get shorter, this channel no longer accommodates straight cylinder bags. (See diagrams in the photostream.) We realized that the channel for handlebar bags didn't disappear – it just changed shape. The Delta’s shape fits perfectly on most modern trail bikes.
Other modern systems push the bag forward on hard mounts or semi-rigid harnesses to avoid brake lever interference. This approach works, with a big disadvantage: the loaded bag has leverage to pull the handlebars around, or to bounce badly, both readily apparent on the trail. With the Delta, the cargo weight literally wraps around the steering axis, trail handling is minimally affected, and the bag is VERY stable.
Available colors: Black, Cayenne, Ocean Blue, Evergreen, Goldenrod, Coyote Brown, Dark Camo, Olive Green, Marigold, Matrix Grey, Slate Grey, Red, Electric Blue, Southwest Turquoise, Deep Purple, Blaze Orange, Lime Green. Swatches in photostream.
(Previous generations of this bag were known as the Bedrock Bags Moab Handlebar Bag.)

Weight: Basic - 10oz/280g. Standard - 12oz/330g. Premium - 14oz/400g.
Volume: ~12L for the main bag, ~1L for the Standard/Premium pocket.
100% handmade by Freewheel Mission Gear in Madison, Indiana, USA.
Compatibility:
Fits almost all modern mountain bikes with stems 70mm or shorter.
Compatible with flat bars, normal riser bars, and Jones-style swept bars.
Requires 5.5” from the handlebar to front tire when the suspension is entirely compressed.
Standard and Premium models include a replaceable wear patch on the back of the bag. If you’re going to use it a LOT, that’s a good call.
If your bike has a super spiky head tube badge or cables that protrude directly from the face of the head tube, the Delta isn’t for your rig.
Doesn’t play nicely with stem bags (‘feedbags’) since it uses the same space.

Step-by-step:
As with most bikepacking gear, the Delta depends on its contents to define its shape and ride quality. Stuffable items (clothing, sleeping gear) work best. If you place other items in the main bag, wrap them in soft goods to mute their edges and make them more packable. Pack firmly and roll the closures tight!
There are two pieces to the Delta - the harness (Basic build) or pocket (Standard/Premium builds), and the main bag.
1) Install the harness or pocket. Pass the two large straps over top your handlebar on either side of your stem and fasten them to the handlebar using the OneWrap velcro already threaded through the two small plastic buckles.
2) Install the already-packed main bag. (You did pack it already, didn’t you?) Push all cables/hoses EXCEPT the front brake hose up to the bottom of the handlebar. Place the loaded main bag under the cables and handlebar, and strap the ends into place using the OneWrap velcro loops on top of the bag. Fasten the harness/pocket straps around the main bag and pull tight. The front brake hose will run over the front of the bag, and under the harness/pocket. (Your cables/hoses may need to be routed differently, but this is the method we've found works best.)
3) Go ride!
